Massage has the great ability of passing into other areas of our lives, so if mom is feeling rested and unstressed, the rest of the family, and Baby, will feel the benefits of having a happy, relaxed, and focused mom who feels better in her body. |
| Massage is Not Just a Luxury- it is essential to maintaining balance in your body as it changes throughout pregnancy. In 1999, Dr. Tiffany Fields at The Touch Research Institute in Miami, published a report that showed women who have regular massage during pregnancy experienced: * Improved mood * Increased and more restful sleep * Reduced anxiety * Reduced back pain * Reduction of pregnancy induced sciatica * Lower blood pressure * Fewer complications during labor * An overall feeling of health and well-being for both mom and the unborn baby. |
| How can massage help me during labor? Labor is an exciting yet overwhelming time. You are excited to finally meet your new baby, yet fearful about the unexpected and unpredictable events that labor brings. It can help to: * Reduce anxiety * Reduce stress * Promote relaxation * Manage pain * Offer comfort and support * Lead to a successful labor and delivery |

| What about getting a massage after the baby comes? Massage after pregnancy is essential for the new mom. Along with structures after the birth. It also allows the new mom to receive some nurturing and emotional support at a time when she is giving so much of herself to the new baby. Massage can also benefit the post c-section mom by minimizing the appearance of scar tissue and help both the physical and Postpartum massage can be done as soon as 1 day after the birth and continue far beyond the 6 week postpartum period. You can continue seeing Miranda for massage services long after you've had your baby. Your body will thank you for it! |
| Is it safe to get a massage while I'm pregnant? Massage can be done during all three trimesters from the moment you find out you are pregnant up until, and even during your birth, and in most high risk conditions. Massage by a qualified and experienced professional will not cause miscarriage or pre-term labor to occur. A midwife's or doctors approval is not usually needed, but it is recommended that your caregiver be aware that you are receiving massage. Your therapist also needs to be aware of what is happening during your pregnancy in order to give you the best and most appropriate care possible. I recommend receiving massage at least once a month. Following the same pattern for massage as you do your doctor/midwife visits is a great way to ensure your changing body gets all the TLC it needs. |

I love working with people who are dealing with a variety of issues from routine relaxation and stress reduction to specific muscle complaints. I'm particularly adept at addressing neck, shoulder, low back, hip and leg issues. If you have any questions as to whether or not my massage style will be able to address your specific complaints, please call me. I'd be happy to answer your questions. |
